The Lamb and The Lion In Us

Love is known to be a very good thing. It comes with gratitude, kindness, appreciation, sharing, caring and may other attributes to it. Love begins with God because it is His nature. When He blew His breath in man and man became a living soul, there are things that was downloaded in us. As a living soul we are emotional and functional beings that are made to operate in love. We are also encouraged by Jesus to love our neighbors and even our enemies There is another side to love or the flip side call hate. Hate is often denounced as a very bad thing but there is also a good side to hate. We can hate things like injustice, wars, robbery, extortion, manipulations and many other evil practices.

Our living God speaks of things that He hates. The Bible says in Proverbs 6: 16- 19 “These six things doth the Lord hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: 17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, 18 An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, 19 A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren” As believers in Christ we are also to hate these things. Anything that have the potential to destroy our soul we are suppose to hate them and evict them from our lives .The Bible also encourage us in 1 Thessalonians 5: 22 “Abstain from all appearance of evil” For the safety of our eternal soul we must guard jealously, resist or avoid all appearance of evil.

We show love with some sense of tenderheartedness and we show hate with harsh reactions either a sharp word or an angry look. How then are we able to live in love and hate somethings and be right at the same time. It goes back to knowing and understanding God’s word. Jesus Christ the Son of the Living God is the Lamb of God and the Lion of Judah. The lamb is a gentle, humble animal that easily obey commands. The lion rules with authority and subdue any attack on his domain. Jesus depicts the nature of the lamb because He was obedient to His Father in all thing. Jesus stayed in line with God’s will because He often go and pray for the Father’s will to be done. The Bible says in Isaiah 53: 7 “He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth” Jesus Christ who was full of the Spirit of God and power because He got the power of the Holy Spirit without measure acted in his lamb like nature to fulfill the will of God instead of defending himself. There were times the lion nature of Jesus came out especially when He went to the temple and saw the money changers. Matthew 21: 12-13 “And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the money changers, and the seats of them that sold doves, 13 And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves”

Jacob the son if Issac and grandson of Abraham was known as a trickster. He came through a lineage of blessings and the angel of the Lord met with him and gave him a life changing experience and he received a name change to be called Israel. He continued in the blessings of Abraham and close to the end of his life he prophesied the future of his children and their lineage. In his prophecy to one of his son called Judah, Jacob prophesied Christ coming through Judah’s lineage Genesis 49: 9- 10 “”Judah is a lion’s whelp; From the prey, my son, you have gone up He couches, he lies down as a lion, And as a lion, who dares rouse him up? “Judah is a lion’s whelp: from the prey, my son, thou art gone up: he stooped down, he couched as a lion, and as an old lion; who shall rouse him up? 10 The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be” How do we know this prophecy is about Jesus the Lion of Judah first Jesus came through the lineage of Judah Secondly we see in Hebrew 1: 8 “But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.” This shows that Jesus will rule with authority as King of kings.

Scepter – This can be a rod or wand which symbolically represent a leader’s authority or kingship over a domain

John the Apostle of Jesus Christ who was banished to the island of Patmos because of the gospel had an encounter with Jesus Christ. When John was caught up in the third heaven this was what he said he saw in Revelation 5: 1-5 “And I saw in the right hand of him that sat on the throne a book written within and on the backside, sealed with seven seals. And I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, Who is worthy to open the book, and to loose the seals thereof? And no man in heaven, nor in earth, neither under the earth, was able to open the book, neither to look thereon. And I wept much, because no man was found worthy to open and to read the book, neither to look thereon. And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof” John saw the book in the right hand of him that sat upon the throne and there was no one capable of opening the book, no one on earth or in heaven. John began to weep but one of the elders told him not to weep because the Lion of the tribe of Judah prevailed to open the seals of the book. This happened because of Jesus’ humility and obedience. Jesus even said in John 14: 30 “Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me” The devil could not penetrate Jesus to cause Jesus to sin. Jesus overcome the devil with the word. Jesus had authority over the devil so He deal with the devil through His lion nature. The Bible says Proverbs 28: 1 “The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion” Once we overcome sin and practice to live a righteous life we are as bold as lion to be able to stand against the attacks of the devil. We will be able to speak God’s word with authority and power.

God wants us to be able to operate in the lamb and lion nature. Being the lamb we must be obedient to the teachings of Jesus Christ our good shepherd. Even Abraham operated in the lamb like nature when he was told by God to offer his son Issac as a sacrifice. Abraham’s obedience caused perpetual blessings on his seed forever. Once we operate in the lamb like nature we will walk in blessings and therefore no curse can come upon us. The devil will not be able to find anything in us to accuse us because we are bless through our obedience. The lamb like nature does not seek to abuse others. The lamb like nature is important to be a blessing when we go to win souls for Christ operating with a kind and gentle spirit. The lamb nature is necessary when we are teaching the word of God with meekness and patience. As called out and set apart people, once we come into a relationship with Jesus Christ we automatically come into warfare with the devil. Here we have to rise up in the lion like nature to be able to sustain our salvation and the blessings we receive because the devil will use anything or anyone to rob us of our salvation. Jesus Himself said in Matthew 11: 12 “And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force” A lamb would run to its death not being able to discern trouble. They are not able to resist the attack or violence of the devil, it takes a bold lion who is a fearless creature by nature to withstand these forces of attack.

We are blessed to be able to operate with these two nature without confusion and it gives us the skill to be victorious over the works of the devil. Once we know who we are in Christ we will operate well in these two nature and be able to live a bless and God pleasing life.May the lamb in us shine for peace, love, kindness, patience, meekness and patience so others can experience the comfort and love of God in Christ Jesus May the lion in us arise with power and vigor for truth, justice, righteousness and holy authority to subdue and destroy all evil operations that the captives can be delivered, yokes can be broken and the oppressed be set free. May the lamb and the lion in us ignite the fire of holiness to bring revival to the body of Christ.
