Pray Without Ceasing

What do you do when you are praying about a situation for long time and you are not seeing the result. No matter how spiritual we are this not a good feeling. What should we do in times like these? Do you think an unrealistic expectation could be the problem?

This is one of the reason why it is important to read and know what the Bible is saying. The Bible is a collection of books inspired by God to direct mankind in this walk of life. Everything that is pertaining to life and righteousness is written in the Bible. As we enter the gold mine of the word of God and turn the pages we can bask in revelations that will open up our understanding. The words in the Bible will also speak to us. How can the word of God speak to us? As Jesus said in St John 6: 63 “It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life” Here we see that the word of God is spirit and life. Jesus first said, it is the spirit that quickeneth. We are spiritual being, so as we willingly take the word of God, it will impact our lives for the better. Things that gratifies the flesh are temporary and can also lead to disaster therefore dwelling in the things of the flesh profits us nothing.

In the Bible we see examples of those who labored in prayer until something happened. Daniel prayed and the answer came but because of the warfare in the spirit realm, it took twenty one days to get the answer. Elijah who called down fire from heaven on Mount Carmel to prove the God that answers by fire. Here in 1 Kings 18: 42 b- 44 “And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; and he cast himself down upon the earth, and put his face between his knees, 43 And said to his servant, Go up now, look toward the sea. And he went up, and looked, and said, There is nothing. And he said, Go again seven times. 44 And it came to pass at the seventh time, that he said, Behold, there ariseth a little cloud out of the sea, like a man’s hand. And he said, Go up, say unto Ahab, Prepare thy chariot, and get thee down that the rain stop thee not. Here we see that even Elijah who had sudden answers to prayer had to pray seven times before an answer was manifested.

Through continuous prayer Peter was delivered from prison. James was already killed and Herod saw that it pleased the Jews, so Peter was next in line to be put to death. The Bible says in Act 12: 5 “Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him” As the church engaged in continuous prayer on Peter’s behalf, God sent an angel to deliver him. The church came together as a united front being determined to get God’s attention to deliver Peter.

As Paul had encouraged the Thessalonians church, today the word of God is saying to us

1 Thessalonians 5: 17 “Pray without ceasing”

Romans 12: 12 “Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer

James 5: 16b “The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

It is imperative for us to be prayerful as believers. Our prayers will create open heavens. The continuous engagement in prayer will keep our open heavens open. This will enable us to receive deep and valuable secrets from the Lord concerning our lives, family, church, community and nations. Praying always will cause sign and wonders to follow our lives. Let us make prayer our priority and dwell in the word of God to enhance our prayer life.

  1. Prayer changes any circumstances any situations. When we seek God daily He will come through for us. It may be in a split second or even a decade but He comes through for His people…Prayer ..our steps to Heaven’s door..

  2. Amen. Prayer is our lifeline. Daily ongoing communication with our Father is vital in order to live an effective Christian life in this world.

    • Yes I am just reading the Bible when Jesus was in Gethsemane, the Bible said He prayed three times. The Bible said that He went away again and prayed the third time, saying the same thing

    • You are welcome Herry 1 Chronicles 16: 11 “Seek the Lord and his strength,
seek his face continually” God also said in Jeremiah 33:3 “Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not” Without prayer there is no communication. Without communication or prayer there is no walk with God.
