Our Response To The Great Commission

A map and a Bible showing the journey of our commission
An Original Work/ Maurice Malcolm/ Nov 3, 2019

When one experience the new birth they come into a system of faith. This faith is believing the unseen, the unknown and the untouchable from a spiritual perspective. By faith we believe, we know and are able to touch him through our prayers were divinity meets humanity. Having this life changing experience, our response to the great commission should be a joyful one. Someone had done it so we can be saved today, it should become our pleasure to do the same.

Commission Given By Jesus Christ

Matthew 28:19 “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen” This commission is a sowing of the seed of the word of God into the hearts of men. Today many laws are been enforced to suppress this order given to us by Jesus Christ. The question is, how can we be effective in carrying out this commission in the face of stringent laws?

Threats Against The Great Commission

Are you desiring to telling others about Jesus and are bombarded with fear? Are the laws of men suppressing your ability to tell someone you know who is in need of salvation about the goodness of God? Nothing surprises God, God knows what the plans of the enemy will be and there is nothing new under the sun. From ancient times human have been threatened by the enemy for the name of Jesus Christ. Remember from scripture, in St. John 9 the man that was born blind and Jesus healed him. Jesus healed the man on the Sabbath day which was an offense to the laws that were established by man.The Pharisees questioned the man who was heal not caring about him being healed. They were more concerned that someone wasn’t keep their law They went on further to question the parents for verification because it was known that this man was born blind. This was a marvelous miracle that took place with their son in which the parents should be grateful for and be outspoken about, but fear suppressed them. When they were being questioned they told the Pharisees John 9: 21 about their son “He is of age ask him; he shall speak for himself” The Bible tells us in the next verse (John 9: 22) “These words spake the parents, because they feared the Jews; for the Jews had agreed already, that if any man did confess that he was Christ, he should be put out of the synagogue” The parents rather to be apart of the ‘status quo’ than to glorify God for giving sight to their child who was blind from birth and is now loose from that deficiency and can now be a possible blessing to them. Darkness does not like light because the light will expose the evil of the heart. That is why the enemy of our soul uses every device possible to stop the spreading of the gospel. Jesus was here to fulfill a mission. This mission was prophesied in Isaiah 61:1-3 and the fulfillment began in Luke 4: 17- 21. In Jesus’ time there were oppositions but Jesus lived a life of prayer and fasting in communion with the Father which is an example for us to be effective being led by the Holy Spirit. The Bible has the tools for us to be effective in soul winning.

Joy Of Carrying Out The Commission

We know that not everyone will be saved, some have already given themselves over to the devil and are being used by him. Paul had told us in 2 Thessalonians 3: 2 “And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have not faith” Jesus also told us in Matthew 7: 6 “Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under feet, and turn again and rend you” This shows how precious the word of God is, and we must be wise in how we use it and to who we tell it and when we tell. Again, Jesus said in Matthew 10: 14 “And whosoever shall not receive you, nor your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust off your feet” All these sayings gives us the understanding that the gospel will be resisted and not easily accepted. The question still lingers, how can we be effective in carrying out this commission in the face of stringent laws?

The Bible tells us in John 3: 8 “The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth, so is every one that is born of the Spirit” All that is happening in this world and all that the enemy is doing there is no way he can stop the move of God. He can fight but he can’t prevail. Everyone of us that is born of the Spirit must keep in tune with the Holy Spirit in prayer and fasting so we can be led by the Spirit and discern the move of the Holy Spirit so we can know what God would want us to do in His timing. God is able to give us specific instructions either through dreams, visions, impression upon our spirit, open visions or His audible voice. As the wind blow and we are not able to tell the direction where it come from or where it is going so it is when we are operating by the leading of the Holy Spirit. First fear is taken away, we are bold as a lion, our confidence in Christ and knowing who he is will increase and we will be strong and do exploits.

Once we are in tune, God will defend His word through signs and wonders. The Bible tells us 1 John 2: 20 “But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all thingsThere will be a move of God because the saints are praying and there will be a shift in the realm of the spirit that many of who are creating the laws to hinder people from telling others about the gospel of Jesus will become uncomfortable with the evil they are doing. Many will come to Jesus like Nicodemus because the Spirit of God will touching lives and making transformations. The obedient will come into the grace but the rebellious and stiff-necked will be cut off.

Power To Stand And Be Effective

Once we are willing to despise the shame like Jesus did, then we will be able to stand up against all odds and do as He commanded because we will not be shaken by the strange wind of criticism, the ruling principalities fighting against the will of God because Jesus Christ said in Matthew 24: 14 “And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations and then shall the end come” Peter and the Apostles were thrown in prison for the gospel and later were delivered by an angel and were instructed by that angel in Acts 5: 20 to “go stand and speak in the temple to the people the words of this life’ The angel did not say o.k boys it was a hard thing you went through go home and get some rest. The angel instructed them go and speak knowing that their speaking brings trouble. Jesus had already told His disciples in Matthew 10: 34 “Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword” This sword of the word of God cuts asunder, it discern the intent of the heart and exposes evil. Being obedient to the instruction by the angel to speak the word of this life, Peter and the disciples were held again and were brought before the council. They were questioned but “Peter and the other apostles answered and said, we ought to obey God than man” Being confident when there is a divine move of God and follow his leading all power must subject to the authority of Jesus Christ.

Let us arise and let not the laws instituted by man hinder the command of Jesus Christ. It shall not be an excuse for not carrying out the commission given to us. Jesus had laid these task on us, we are His hands, feet and mouth extended. Isaiah told us in Isaiah 50: 4 “The Lord GOD hath given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary: he wakeneth morning by morning, he wakeneth mine ear to hear as the learned” This goes to show that the Lord equips His people to be effective in kingdom building. There is no excuse and our reward is sure and no one can take our crown.

Let us rise to the action so that our master Jesus Christ can be glorified. Let us stand in the face of adversity and count all our achievements, titles, friends, possessions, things gained to us loss for Christ. Yes let us count them loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus. Let us count them as dung that we may win Christ. Paul was once a hindrance to the gospel but when his soul was renewed he rose up in the face of adversity and preach Christ and Him crucified. If Paul did it we can do it.

  1. Hi Maurice, I’m so glad that you are telling others about Jesus. I remember when I first started talking about Jesus on the internet, I was overcome with fear for a time. Thanks for encouraging others!

I do have a question about the following in your blog, “God is able to give us specific instructions either through dreams, visions, impression upon our spirit, open visions or His audible voice.” It is true that God spoke to people through dreams and His audible voice was heard several times before God’s word came into print, do you consider the bible the primary way that God speaks to us today? My family was just talking about this. So thought I would throw it out there when I read your comment. Maybe other people may comment too. Have a blessed week!

    • Good Evening
There is a technicality in that question and I am going to try and see how best I can answer. I can say the Bible (The Written Word) for us would be the foundation because God honor His word above His name. Every dream, vision, impression upon our spirit or audible voice should be tested by the Word of God. On the other hand we could ask what about the christian who cannot read and write, how does God talk to him or her?
We are in the dispensation of grace and we have the Holy Spirit within us and can come upon us for service. Before this dispensation the Holy Spirit only come upon people. I say that to say that even in this dispensation God still talk to us through dreams, visions open vision trance, impression upon our spirit audible voice. Remember Paul and the Macedonian call that was a vision, Peter was praying upon the house top and when into a trance.
Again remember the written word is the logos which we can read we can even take it up and read it and what God would want us to read to benefit a particular situation we may not read it. Also remember the now word, the word for the moment or a word quickened by the Holy Spirit about a situation which is called Rhema. This is how God will speak to a mature Christian.
Once we are in tune in the Spirit God will speak to us and He will give us specific instructions. If it wasn’t for the leading of the Holy Spirit I would be here able to be writing to you. The Bible is the foundation to keep things in check the Bible carry deep mysteries and as we grow deeper things are unfolded to us. So we may not see into somethings but as we continue to gain experience with God and we refer to the word we will deeper things in the very word we had read months ago.
I am going to briefly write about a dream. I read the Bible and was going to bed then I felt like reading the Bible again I read Psalms 3 The verse 6 that states “I will not fear ten thousands of people that have set themselves against me round about” That scripture stuck with me for the moment I even wrote Psalms 3 in my hand that when I wake up in the morning and see it I would remember that I was reading that scripture. In the dream there was a plan attack against me as I was on a compound surrounded by high fence with a lot of gates. Each gate I was about to approach there was people coming. In the dream I feel like if I jump and land hard on the ground something will happen. When I jump and landing in the dream I said “I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people that have set themselves against me round about”. God can talk to us through the scriptures and also use the scriptures to carry us through a spiritual experience.
Very important to remember that we need to have the word in us which regenerates us into a new man so we walk as how Jesus Christ wants us to walk and not according to the dictates of this world. Once regeneration takes place then communication with God becomes easy. All the other ways God speaks to us become common in our lives. God deals with the heart and He knows everyone of us limitation so if someone cannot read and write the Sovereign God know to communicate with the individual he or she might be in a bible study or a regular service and listens and hold to something the preacher or teacher says.
I appreciate your question I hope I answer clear enough. There was so much coming to my head while writing.

  2. Great and timely post for God’s people. Paul asked the church to pray that he speaks God’s word boldly. We can pray for courage and God is faithful to help us. We need to depend on God’s power to work through us, not our natural abilities.

  3. Yes, we need to obey God rather than man if man is asking us to disobey God. Right now, in America, we are not facing the kind of persecution and restrictions as people are in other nations around the world, so we still have a lot of freedom to share the gospel, for now, though the persecution is coming, and we are experiencing it to some degrees already.

But, where I have experienced it the strongest, so far, has not been out in the world but in the gatherings of the church. For, so much of today’s church here in America has gone the way of the world, and they are diluting the gospel message to make it more appealing to human flesh, and so they don’t want to hear the gospel as taught by Jesus and the NT apostles. So, we are being restricted within many gatherings of the church and even on some Christian discussion sites on the internet, and we are being forced to either compromise the gospel message and to join in with the cheap grace people, or we are being pushed out. At least, that has been my experience, and I have read that others are facing this, as well.

    • Jesus said he will come to take the Church out of the church. These are perilous times and even in the house of the Lord we have to be watchful. The word of God tells us to be wise as serpent and harmless as a dove. It is very important as the Bible tells us we must work our own salvation with fear and trembling. It will be difficult for me to share my current experience but with what I am going through and the compromise I see all I can say this is a world of spirit and many will allow themselves to be overtaken by evil and continue as if all is well.
You know, I love this scripture maybe because of what I have been through and it takes me to a level of understanding different from the norm “Psalm 119: 71 “It is good for me that I have been afflicted; that I might learn thy statutes” This may happen to us but we still have to stand for Jesus. This video is a little encouragement to you Sue Love https://youtu.be/oAb9s7oDqz0
