Oh God Let My Story Change

The Bible says any man in Christ is a new creation. This is so because we have receive the spirit of the Lord. We grow and conform to God’s righteousness when we read, understand and obey the word of God. These good things does not come without struggles because the devil is set to fight us to try to get us back under his domain.

We may be praying, believing and desiring for a better life. We are saved but we still see areas in our lives that can be better to show that we are children of the blessings. Jesus died that we can receive life, we become saved and have the newness of life. Jesus became a curse that we can be delivered from the curse of the law, and be able to become partakers of the blessings of Abraham who lack nothing. The Bible says Abraham was wealthy in all things. If we are experiencing poverty then there are things to be address. Poverty is a sign that a curse is lingering and need to be dealt with. We have received the salvation through grace so the sin is removed but we have to identify hidden curses and break them. Jesus became poor that we can become rich. Many Christians do not experience the material riches so that can be a blessing to others. There are people of God shown in the Bible like Job, David, Jabez and Abraham, who have experienced material riches.

Whatever is needed to make our lives whole we must cry out to God to rewrite the story of our lives so we can experience change. Jesus said in John 16: 24b “ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full” The limitations are hindering us from experiencing complete joy. The blind man heard that Jesus was passing by and he said in Luke 18: 35- 43 “And it came to pass, that as he was come nigh unto Jericho, a certain blind man sat by the way side begging: 36 And hearing the multitude pass by, he asked what it meant. 37 And they told him, that Jesus of Nazareth passeth by. 38 And he cried, saying, Jesus, thou son of David, have mercy on me. 39 And they which went before rebuked him, that he should hold his peace: but he cried so much the more, Thou son of David, have mercy on me. 40 And Jesus stood, and commanded him to be brought unto him: and when he was come near, he asked him, 41 Saying, What wilt thou that I shall do unto thee? And he said, Lord, that I may receive my sight. 42 And Jesus said unto him, Receive thy sight: thy faith hath saved thee. 43 And immediately he received his sight, and followed him, glorifying God: and all the people, when they saw it, gave praise unto God” The story of the blind man was changed, those who were trying to stop him from crying out to Jesus are now praising God with him. This blind man story changed he is no longer a beggar, he became a follower of Jesus Christ. His miracle change the thoughts of the people and their words on their lips about this man. he is a testimony and no longer a deficit in the community.

There was a madman of Gadarenes that came in contact with Jesus Christ as stated in Mark 5: 1- 8 “And they came over unto the other side of the sea, into the country of the Gadarenes. And when he was come out of the ship, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit, Who had his dwelling among the tombs; and no man could bind him, no, not with chains: Because that he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been plucked asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces: neither could any man tame him. And always, night and day, he was in the mountains, and in the tombs, crying, and cutting himself with stones. But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshiped him, And cried with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not. For he said unto him, Come out of the man, thou unclean spirit” There was change in the man’s life after Jesus drove the demon out of him. In Mark 5: 15 “And they come to Jesus, and see him that was possessed with the devil, and had the legion, sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid” Jesus change the story of this man’s life, giving him a new life, a new identity and new sense of purpose. This man was now able to walk into his destiny after being bound up for years not even knowing himself and his own shame. The Bible says in Mark 15: 20 “And he departed, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him: and all men did marvel” He then became a minister of the gospel, an Evangelist liberated and walking in his purpose. His assignment was hijacked before it was identified so he was labelled a mad man. The deliverance done by Jesus Christ empowered him to he evangelizing in ten cities and teach the good works of Jesus Christ.

We will no longer stay under the suppression of the enemy. We will arise and rebel against all unclean forces hindering our blessing and breakthrough. We will cry out Lord change the story of my life, rewrite my story Lord. Some of us have seeing things in our lives that are constantly going negative, we must cry out for a change. In 1 Chronicles 4: 9- 10 “And Jabez was more honourable than his brethren: and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, Because I bare him with sorrow. 10 And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested” Jabez cried out to God for a change because of what he was experiencing. He knew that there was good things about his life but there was no manifestation. The Bible says he was more honorable than his brethren and somethings were not adding up. Jabez own name was speaking against his destiny his mother gave him that name because she said she bare him with sorrow. Apparently there was no joy in Jabez life. All that he would put his hands to become failure. Jabez might have had great business ideas and had tried some but none of them work because sorrow was the evil mark on him in the spirit realm and the devil will do all possible for him to experience the pain of sorrow. Jabez seek to oppose what was going on in his life by crying out to God for a blessing. He also asked for spiritual security with the blessings so it won’t become a grief unto him. The curse of sorrow was then turned to a blessing of joy as God granted Jabez’s request and prosper him.

May our cry bring us breakthrough. May the curses standing before us be demolished. May we dance a new dance and sing a new song. May we also rise to become agent of change so that others may experience the goodness of Jesus Christ.

  1. This was a good read , Maurice, BUT I do not agree with you that Christians who are financially disadvantaged, just need to “identify hidden curses and break them. God did not promise financial riches to His followers. During His ministry, Jesus was homeless. What about the story of the widows mite? Or when the flour & oil didn’t run out?
