Maintain The Foundation

Maintain The Foundation
An Original Work/ Maurice Malcolm/ Oct 15, 2019

The Bible says if the foundation be destroyed what can the righteous do? A foundation is a structural system that is set to maintain stability. The Church of the Living God was built by someone who was carrying out specific instructions. Jesus Christ was living a life of total obedience to the heavenly Father so He could maintain the foundation. Engineers have to carry out specified instruction to maintain standards These standards are protocol fashioned to maintain the foundation for quality finish products.

Everything that has gone through manufacturing process and to maintain credibility has a manual to ensure proper use. Even as technology advances there are still standards that do not change.

Jesus Example For Us To Maintain The Foundation

Our foundation indicates who we are and where we are coming from. Jesus Christ who is from before the beginning of time maintained eternal holiness He came in obedience the the heavenly father. The Bible says in Philippians 2: 8 that Jesus Christ “was obedient unto death even the death of the cross” Jesus Christ also possessed according to Isaiah 11: 2 “And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord” So we can safely says Jesus has an excellent foundation.

One day Jesus was with his disciples and he asked them some very important questions. After a while Peter got the revelation from heaven to the question Jesus asked. After Peter’s answer Jesus made a statement. In Matthew 16: 18 “Upon this rock I will build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it” Jesus had already given His assurance about the church. No matter what is going on throughout the world the gates of hell shall not prevail against the church. Jesus had establish the foundation and gave us the capability to maintain the church through His grace

The Foundation Of The Gospel

The foundation of the gospel also began with Jesus Christ and His teachings and were upheld by the Apostles. By the empowerment of the Holy Ghost the Apostles were able to maintain the foundation of the gospel. The outpouring they had received continues today. This was prophesied by the prophet Joel. The Apostles’ diligence even gave the gospel a name called the Apostle’s doctrine. Acts 2: 42 ” And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread and in prayer”

Maintaining The Foundation Of The Gospel Through Trials

This began with obedience to Christ promise when he told them in Luke 24:49 “And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high” One hundred and twenty gathered in obedience to Jesus. They experienced the ‘Pentecostal Outpouring’ which continued with great signs and wonders. Today we seek after this kind of outpouring for our spiritual development. This great happenings came under attack by religious sects that felt threatened by the truth, but the word of God grew with signs and wonders and divers miracles. This foundation was made in truth, obedience and paid by the blood of Jesus Christ.

Our Foundation Impacted By The Church

Psalm 133: 1 “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity” The church is a place of unity and fellowship according to God’s standard. It is not a social club of man’s ideas. In verse three of the same chapter tells us that is where God command the blessings even life for evermore.

Leaders have the responsibility to communicate with God and live an exemplary life. If leaders are not hearing from God then the foundation will become shaky. The church is the institution set up repair the breaches of our broken foundation. The High Priest Eli wasn’t hearing from God and this had an impact on the nation of Israel. This will become a struggle for young believer who desire to grow in God. These young believer would lack proper spiritual advice because those leaders becomes dormant in their faith. They will not have what to offer for the younger generation to maintain the foundation

Sin Hinders The Maintenance Of Family Foundation

In Genesis 38 Judah has committed incest unknowingly and got his daughter-in-law pregnant. The Bible tells us in Deuteronomy 23: 2 “A bastard shall not enter into the congregation of the Lord; even to the tenth generation shall he not enter into the congregation of the Lord” The sin of Judah had had a negative impact on the lineage. That lineage was omitted from entering the congregation of the Lord. This was a curse that would not be lifted until the tenth generation. This curse was lifted when the generation of David and his brothers. This why David would say I was glad when they say let us go into the house of the Lord. David a man after God’s own heart had the chance to maintain the foundation that was restored.

Maintain The Foundation In New Environment

God gave the children of Israel specific instructions of what they should do when they enter the promise land. God knew that they can be influenced by the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life. They had received ‘true laws’ that would help to establish them. Even though they were set apart people they were born in Egypt. They were acquainted with the lifestyle of Egypt. The sin nature can be easily gravitated so God had to remind His people how to conduct themselves. In Deuteronomy 4 God used Moses to remind them of the statutes and judgments they must obey. They where not to inter-marry because it will affect their faith in God, they will take on the curses of the people by serving their gods

Three Ways To Maintain The Foundation Of Holiness?

We Must Be Born Again

Our foundation had been corrupted by the sin of Adam. Our fore-fathers later walked contrary to God’s word. Through the shed Blood of Christ we are can experience redemption. We have the choice to accept or reject this truth. When this truth connects well with us we will seek to acts upon it. Some people asked Peter in Acts 2: 37-38  “Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?” “Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost”

We Must Establish Covenant With Jesus Christ

The covenant that God had with Abraham, Issac and Jacob stands. God never turn back on His word. Jacob called his children one day to tell them what will become of them. We can safely say this is a good foundation as God Himself had made a signature to this calling Abraham ‘friend’ We can look at one of the sons of Jacob whose name was called Judah. The prophetic word concerning Judah was very powerful yet he fell into sin and delayed the process (Genesis 49: 8- 12).

When Judah fell into sexual sin with his daughter-in-law it setback the promise unto the tenth (10th) generation but the covenant God had made with Abraham still stand. This breakthrough finally came forth in the life of David the tenth of the generation. If the Children of Israel had obeyed God when they leave Egypt all of them would have made it to the promise land in a short time. Sin creates setback and many die before they made it to the Promise Land. The covenant God made with Abraham was able to maintain and later brought them to the promise land

The Effects Of Sin

Sin is what is setting us back. Once we submit ourselves to Jesus Christ and come into covenant with Him then yokes and stronghold will begin to break. The evil foundation that is holding us back will begin to change. Abraham was from an idolatrous background but his obedience to God changed everything. He is known today as father of faith and friend of God.

The Foundation Restored By Hannah Covenant

Hannah the mother of Samuel came into covenant with God and break the yoke of barrenness. She told God in 1 Samuel 1: 11 “And she vowed a vow, and said, O Lord of hosts, if thou wilt indeed look on the affliction of thine handmaid, and remember me, and not forget thine handmaid, but wilt give unto thine handmaid a man child, then I will give him unto the Lord all the days of his life, and there shall no razor come upon his head.” God needed a vessel to work through to bring the nation of Israel to order. Hannah made the covenant to give the child Samuel to God for God’s own purpose. She came into agreement with the will of God and God was in agreement with her.

We Must Have a Prayer Life

The Bible says in Hosea 4: 6 “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children” Secrets are given at our personal prayer altar. Once we have a prayer life our knowledge will start to increase through revelation by word of knowledge, visions, discernment, deeper understanding and the application of the word of God.

Prayers:

Lord anything in my foundation that will hinder my spiritual growth destroy it now in the name of Jesus

Heavenly father visit my foundation uproot all that is to be uprooted strengthen all that need to be strengthened purge all that needs purging.

Lord Jesus by your shed blood separate from any connection of evil foundation and cleanse me.

Conclusion:

A better foundation builds a better tomorrow. Let it begin with me and let it begin with you.
