Experiencing Jesus In The Secret Place

An Original Work/ Maurice Malcolm/ Jan 9, 2020

Experiencing Jesus in the secret place is a moment when we separate ourselves from the busy schedules of life, the world and it’s distractions around us.

It is a moment to enhance a holy intimacy with Christ.

In this moment we can pour out our personal needs, the needs of the family, friends, church and nation to Jesus Christ.

This is moment when we seek Christ’s direction for our lives and remind Him of the visions he showed us and the things that He had said to us.

In this secret place with Jesus we can make covenants and renew covenants with him.

In the secret place with Jesus we will learn secrets of our pass, present and future as the Lord sees it fit to tell us. We can be told His next move and also the secret of our nations

Basking in the secret place with Jesus we are free to be vulnerable to Jesus Christ. In our expressive moments we may even cry, worship, smile, listen keenly to His voice, we may even laugh. We cannot tell what a given moment can be.

We should try our best to never leave our secret place with Jesus without receiving something.

Many things are revealed in the secret place. The secret place is for the whosoever will that are determine to live the Christ life. This is where fleshly desires must give way to the things of the spirit.

The secret place with Jesus is a place and time of sacrifice. The common desires have to be put aside to experience Jesus in the secret place. When the flesh is crying out we have to kill it more by charging ourselves with the word of God to press on to get more of God.

Moses went up to God in the mount and he was there 40 days without food and water. Once divinity and humanity comes in contact appetite and various bodily needs are placed on pause. There are many testimonies where people have encounters with God for very long hours.

In the secret place with Jesus our spirit is empowered to experience things on a greater dimension. When Jesus took Peter, James and John on a secret trip to the mountain and transfigured before them. It was a secret Jesus chose to show those three disciples.

The secret place with Christ can be a lonely place where you will never feel lonely (SMILE one man with God is the majority). Moses was tending to his father-in-law animals and he walked into a secret place where God revealed himself to him. Moses’ purpose to become a deliverer of Israel was revealed. Why do I say it was a secret place? God told him take his shoes off because the place is a holy ground. We are not sure why that area was a holy ground. We could speculate that maybe someone built an altar to the Lord there before. When Jacob had the dream where he saw angels ascending and descending on a ladder from earth to heaven his grandfather Abraham had built an altar in that area before. Jacob also wrestled with an angel in the secret place and received a blessing and a name change.

After Jesus was baptized by John the Baptiste in the Jordan river he went into 40 day fasting set apart in the secret place of communication with the Father to prepare for His ministry. He was opposed by the devil but Jesus overcame the devil with the word. Like Jesus in the secret place we are empowered for duty.

In Luke 4: 14 “And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit in to Galilee, and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about” When we leave the secret place we should be walking in confidence, authority and power so the world would know that we were with Jesus.

In Matthew 14: 23  “And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone” As I wrote before it is a lonely place but we are not alone.

Luke 6: 12 “And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God” We must make up in our mind to spend quality time with the Lord.

The Bible tells us that the secret of the Lord is with them that fear Him

Surely the Lord God will do nothing but he revealeth His secret unto his servants the prophets.

HOW TO BE EFFECTIVE IN THE SECRET PLACE TO EXPERIENCE JESUS

First remember this is a time of sacrifice therefore somethings have to be put aside. Our television time have to be on vacation so we can spend more time in Jesus’ presence. If you are blogging like myself it will be a time we set a side from blogging to be in God’s presence. In doing so we lose nothing. God can multiply favor on us and send people to our blog more than when we are interacting on it. Like Joshua God can make the sun stand still for us.

Efua of the Grace Over Pain site wrote on the topic 7 Tips For Christian Bloggers Efua wrote on tip number 5 “Study You Bible” and also tip number 6 she wrote “Don’t Study To Blog. Study To Grow Your Relationship With God”. Once we are in the secret place with Jesus it will make our Christian blogging niche better because Jesus will reveal deep secret things to us. Another important thing Efua wrote was “spend time in His presence so you do waste time out of His presence” It is important for us the enter in His presence with the expectation to hear from him and leave armed with confidence. Ready to pray and to listen it is a two way communication.

ONE UNSELFISH BENEFIT OF OUR SECRET PLACE

Our secret place can be our portal that even a stranger walk in the midst can experience the supernatural power of Jesus Christ. May we enter our secret place or our closet and stay in the presence of the Lord and be processed so we can be effective in the kingdom of God as His vessel of honor. In these moments with Christ may we experience revival so we see a better generation

  1. This is sooo good! The challenge we are facing today is that most people want to have deep revelations about God but they don’t want to do what it takes to get that. God says “seek me and you shall find me”. We are raising a generation of believers who want to be pacified till death. We hallow lukewarmness and tag it as “being real”. We call those who desire a deeper relationship with God as being too much. God is not a baby who can’t read between the lines. God bless you for raising His banner of righteousness.

I wrote a very similar post 2 years ago titled “The secret place”. It changes my life greatly.

    • Thank you Efua I am not just writing a post I am living this. On the picture is the banner I made a few days ago to challenge my spiritual life to go deeper. It is right here on the wall before. I just need to be in Christ secret place. Life circumstances have developed me and continual battles has kept me close to Jesus but like Moses I say show me your glory.
Efua that is one big problem in the church today there are many in positions they are not prepared for. Can you imagine some preaching on the pulpit and not gone through challenges of life, what can such person tell you. If you were to go people like those for help you would see so much lack of the fruit of the spirit. We must all pass through the Refiner’s Fire so He can see His character image in us. We are in a microwave generation or the quick fix hardly anyone want to labor in prayer and fasting. The is why so many false prophets and diviners are around today well dressed up in pulpits. I have experienced being mocked because of my desire to get closer to God that didn’t deter me Jesus had been mocked the Apostles of old had been through it. If we are striving for mastery we have do to it lawfully so we can receive our incorruptible crown (2 Timothy 2: 5)

  2. Thanks Maurice. There is nothing like spending time alone with the Lord in the secret place. That’s where we truly get to know God and His will for our lives. He does reveal secrets and strengthens our confidence in who we are in Christ and our faith. In order to serve God effectively we must spend adequate time alone with Him. Great post!

      • Reminds me of …

John 15:4-8 King James Version (KJV)

4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.

5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

6 If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.

7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.

8 Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.

  3. Great post, Maurice and the following statement touched me.
“Once divinity and humanity comes in contact appetite and various bodily needs are placed on pause. ”
Jesus once told His desciples that His meat was to do the will of the Lord. The secret place is where revelation is revealed. When you have an encounter with God in His secret place you will never be the same again. Similar to Efua, I wrote a post in 2018 inspired by psalms 91 – secret place. As a matter of fact my blog and the book that I wrote was inspired inside the secret place of God. It is a special and wonderful place to be. I will share your post on my Facebook and I will save post to read again a little later. It is just amazing how the Lord reveals so many revelations from His Word.

    • God is awesome I don’t know if words can be put on it to describe how God gives revelation from His word. It’s like you thing of the best menu and you put it together and it is the best taste ever. After a while you think about adding something else to that menu and your taste lighten up and it keep going on. I like how we are been led in this beginning of the year on our blog writing. We just have to allow the Lord glorify Himself in our blogging
